Murphy’s Second Anniversary

Today we celebrate our second year anniversary for adopting Murphy. We bought him some of his favorite treats and some new toys for him to play with, but today he is mainly sleeping.
Which is also a nice way to send a summers’s afternoon. We are of course thankful to have such a great bunny and especially thankful for everyone who rescues rabbits and helps in finding them new and happy homes.

Yokohama Bunny Festival

Recently, I went to the Yokohama Bunny Festival / UsaFesta 2010.
It was really exciting, thousands of people attended over the two day event.
There were education lectures and videos, people selling products for health and care of bunnies and some people selling bunny clothes and just about anything you could think of about bunnies!!!

Murphy and I are so super, super excited about the bunny festival in Yokohama!! It’s going to be really exciting!!

One Year Anniversary

A year ago today, my husband contacted Rabbitmatch in Los Angeles and he saw many wonderful bunnies that needed a home, but he instantly fell in love with Murphy.

He brought him home and then 3 months later they both joined me in Japan and everyday we are reminded how lucky we are to have Murphy. We love his morning binkies, evening super snuggles and lots of mischievous fun in between.

We really hope that someday all the bunnies will find a home and everyone realizes how loving bunnies are. We are optimistic that happiness is on the way for every bunny and we love everyone who devotes their time to saving bunnies lives and being kind to bunnies.

Rainy Season

Well rainy season has finally come to Japan and that means several weeks of rainy days and muggy weather.

Although its Murphy’s first experience (and its a lot different than sunny California) he’s really doing well.
His routine of morning binkys and late night snuggles hasn’t changes, but he doesn’t want to go outside at all (even when the rain stops) and likes napping a little longer, which is ok with me. Snuggling is always a good idea.

Murphy loves to run around the house with his bunny energy in the early morning; it’s binkys in the bedroom, then he has to check each room to make sure that nothing has been moved while he was sleeping.
Then, on the balcony and nibble on dad’s herb garden (breakfast) then up & down the stairs of his cardboard castles/condo.
This time his mom put his friends up there and it was a little crowded, but he was ok with it.
By the way, he’s the one on the left...

Thank you for everyone wishing me a happy birthday!!! I had lots of fun!! I got a birthday cake(with a cute candy bunny) and I got to blow out the candles with Murphy!!! I am really happy eating cake with bunny snuggles!!

Bunny Friends

When I hear from a friend who has a bunny who is sick and in trouble it always makes me soo sad. It is completely heartbreaking and for people who love bunnies either you have been through it or you will go through in the future.
We all know this when we fall in love with our little cutie, but still we allow ourselves to fall in love and the pain that I have received from the lose our my first two bunnies was and still is heart wrenching, the love I feel with the bunnies I have next to me to strong enough to help me go through it again, and we will.
Sometimes I feel that 90 percent of the people in the world don’t understand rabbits at all, thats why it’s so important for us 10 percent
to be around for each other and like my husband reminds me, “Don’t focus on the time lost, but how lucky we are to have time together.”

Finding a New Vet in Japan

Finding a new vet can be difficult no matter where you live and now we are looking for a vet in Tokyo / Yokohama.
Last week we went to visit a vet that was only 5 minutes from our house. We took Murphy to meet him and get his nails done. This way we can see what kind of doctor he is.

When he opened Murphy’s carrier, he reached in and pulled him out by the scruff of his neck! I screamed and Murphy was kicking up a storm. I told the doctor to stop and he told me that rabbits don’t mind this. I yelled at him and told him that Murphy does mind it!!!

Then the nurse and him, tried to put Murphy into a small plastic zippered pouch, so his legs would stick out and they could cut his nails. When we saw that pouch we told then that we don’t want him in that and the doctor started to try to put him in anyway, I got upset & my husband quickly reached over, picked up Murphy and put him in his carrier and we left...(I leaving out the dialogue between my husband & the doctor, in case there are kids reading this).

We brought Murphy home and gave him extra snuggles!! We were all really upset, but will keep looking until we find a vet that we are all comfortable with.

When Murphy is being a super good boy, I give him a small cookie, but I am really glad that he really loves his hay!!! I know that for bunnies hay is such an important part of their diet and I am really glad that he truly enjoys eating it!! Hooray for hay!!!

Spring Cleaning

Well, it’s Spring time and the weather is slowly warming up in Tokyo!! Now we can go to the park and lay out on the patio more often, but it’s also time to do spring cleaning!!
That also means that a lot of shedding it just around the corner!!
Murphy and I are getting really excited!!!

Bunny Furoshiki

The other I went shopping and I found the cutest furoshiki that I ever saw!!! Furoshiki is a cloth that you use to wrap things with.
Like your bento box or bottles or anything!! It makes it pretty and cute!! The one that I found has bunnies on it soo...it’s super cute!!!

Now that the weather is slowly starting to warm up I decided to go shopping to see if I could find anything for Murphy and I did!

I found this super, super cute store in the Aka-renga building in Yokohama. They have so many bunny things my head was spinning!!
This is my favorite bunny store in Japan!!! It’s super cute and fun!!

The owner and the people who work their have and love bunnies too!! They opened about a year ago and when I went the store was crowded. It’s good to see that people everywhere really do love bunnies so much.

Murphy goes to the park #2

When we arrived I put on his leash and opened his carrier door and he slowly came out and looked around. Of course he was very curious!! And although he didn’t venture to far off, we did run around a little and then relaxed on the bench. He was a little shy at first, but then he started to enjoy himself!!
We have another week of rain coming (sad), but after that we can explore more places in Japan (happy)!!!

Finally, there was a short break in the cold and rainy weather, so we thought it would be fun to take Murphy outside to the park! This would be the first time that he’s been outside (except for the patio) and the first time being out in Japan!! We were all very excited!!! I put him in his carrier and off we went!!!
